A 3/5 th scale replica of the Vietnam Memorial Wall in Washington, D.C., will arrive in Excelsior Springs on Sept. 9 and leave the morning of Sept. 14. During those five days, we anticipate upwards of 10,000 visitors to our community.
The entire community has a chance to come together to show support for Vietnam War Era veterans – and the Museum needs you!

This isn’t just a volunteer opportunity: It’s a chance to help heal and bring the entire community together in support of those who served honorably during the Vietnam War era.
There are multiple ways to support this event, but none more important than volunteering during those five days. There are opportunities both at Piburn Ballfield and at the Museum:
At Piburn Ballfield, 100 Penn St. (off Broadway):
- Greet and guide visitors.
- Staff the computers to help visitors locate names on the wall.
- Provide security
- Four-hour shifts are available (9 a.m.-1 p.m.; 1 p.m.-5 p.m.; 5 p.m.-9 p.m.
At the Museum, 101 East Broadway (corner of Broadway and South Main Street.)
- Greet and guide visitors through local companion exhibit, “Not Forgotten: Local Stories of the Vietnam War Era.”
- Six-hour shifts are available (9 a.m.-3 p.m.; 3 p.m. to 9 p.m.)
“Not Forgotten” is more than a display—it’s a heartfelt tribute to the men and women from Excelsior Springs and nearby communities who served during the Vietnam War Era.
